I think that Fat Cyclist’s entry Respect for the Bonk is quite applicable to roller speed skating- and perhaps to ice as well.

The Trophée Des 3 Pistes is taking place this weekend in France. About 1000 skaters are taking part in this three day track racing event. Racers compete on three different tracks over the span of three days. You’ll be able to find result here and photos here.
