Cat Vs Cat

I share my living space with two cats; one is an old white female and the other is a young orange male. When my cats first started living together, I spent a lot of time enforcing peaceful relations between my cats. Now, they do not dare not fight with each other, when I am at home and awake that is.

While I am away or sleeping, it’s a whole other story. My cats spend some of their precious time fighting with each other.

How do I know this?

Clumps of hair, displaced rugs, knocked-over food trays, and toppled house plants.

The other day, I set my camera down on the floor, pressed record, and left for work. 8 1/2 hours later, I came home and stopped the camera. The following video- 2008-03-18 Mississauga Cat Day- is a compilation of the 3+ minutes of action that takes place during the day.

  1. Shit that was hilarious Pete!! You need another camera in another room, maybe something up high to catch the action from above. Lol.

  2. They got into another fight last night- when I went to sleep, the door to the upstairs washroom was wide open. When I woke up this morning, the doors was closed and both cats were trapped inside the washroom with fur all over the place.

The two idiots must have been locked in there all night…

  3. Ohmigosh!!!

that was one of the funniest things i have seen in a long time… The secret life of CATS!!!!

so if they get in 4 fights a day, that’s 1,460 fights a year!

it’s amazing those cats have any fur or eyeballs left!!!!

  4. …1460?? Um, woaa.

That’s quite the way to put it now.

That’s probably as many training sessions that we have in a year… eek.

  5. I’ve got my money on Presti. And I hate to tell you, your white cat totally reminds me of our 16 year old blind cat the way she yawls at nothing. One day she’ll be a cranky arthritic mess like him!!!

Why do they walk around the house all day? What is up with that? They’re doing laps or something. What’s so funny is how deliberate and purposeful they are. Very important cat business.

BTW this is Jessica, not Andrew. Hi Peter!

  6. Hi Jessica- very cool that you could drop by and say hi :)

I think Zoe is already at your blind kitty’s stage… I am just waiting for her to drop dead (as much as I don’t want that).

You know, I think they walk around and about because… well, I .. don’t know. I agree though, the business they are up to is very urgent and necessary.
