Colombia of course will gain more medals, France definately, Argentina, Belguim & the two neighbours Venezuela & Chile, New Zealand might stay around the same, but expect some colour change. Mexico & Portugal are getting closer, but not quite there yet. As for Holland who goes to the Ice & who does not, could be the difference between a possibly one or two medals.
After the final concert of the summer clears out of the Halifax Common next week, crews will start building the Canada Games Oval.
Russia’s new speed skating coach is vowing his team will win “several” medals at the Sochi Olympics in four years, after the Vancouver Games in February saw just two podium finishes.
Great start lets try & keep this thread on the positive line, of course Colombia will be extremely hard to beat & specially on home soil.
But last time the altitude factor came into play, they failed to win a medal, in the extreme altitude of Bogota, but that was back in 1984 & they have come a very long way since then.
Without the Korean seniors going to worlds because of some home date clashes & of course the focus on the Asian games, you can expect the challenge from Asia to be less of a threat, as not sure of Chinese Taipei approach to Worlds either.
WEll first of all you will need to be extremely fit & technically correct for the longer races, so you are not wasting energy, also what I would call very light on your feet. Bart Swings & Peter Michael will be two foreign skaters who could fit that category. In the ladies De Eugino, Lardarni, Berg & Thum will be opposition, as will my daughter Nicole.

Apolo Anton Ohno’s having fun. He’s speaking about short-track speedskating in the past tense. He’s saying he’s “had a great run” in the sport.
That is, if he decides to retire.
America’s most decorated Winter Olympian said Wednesday he still doesn’t know if he will compete again.
They remind me of my own team that prepared me for the last Olympics. I called them my ‘circle of strength’ because they were always there for me: planning, preparing, caring and making sure I had every chance I needed to perform. These people were my husband, my coach, my strength trainer, therapists, physiologist, skate technician, video technician and so many more. Right to Play Rwanda is the ‘circle of strength’ for all of the children here.
