July 20th 2010- Roller & Inline Speed Skating News

Here is lots of roller & inline speed skating news to keep you reading, looking at pictures, and watching videos for a while;

REPORTS & RESULTS

The last 2km through my eyes: Ferre just did his last acceleration to catch a late single breakaway so now it was Maarten his job to keep the speed high. At 1km to go the Powerslide train and Bont train tried to come over us but I managed to go between them with the help of Maarten. Also team Stadler did an attack and they had the lead. At 700m from the line the speed dropped just a little but at that point I knew it was my chance to go, I accelerated and took the lead followed by Nayib Tobon and team Stadler. As I hoped I could go as first into the last corner and finish first followed by Nayib Tobon and Giacomo Cuncu finished third.

NEWS & MISC

2010 is my 13th year of inline. I’ve been on my current skates for exactly 3 years. They were about the best that money could buy when they were new. The skates are my 4 th pair of “racing” skates in 10 seasons and I am expecting to get a couple more seasons out of them (now that I have patched up the damage caused by a car tire). This year I have been averaging about 13 outings per month, the very same as in 2000. However, I take rests fairly often and actively skate for perhaps 45 -50 minutes on average.
